Kelis new album “FOOD” will be released on April 28

“Milshake” princess Kelis is ready to return to the music scene. In late-April, the singer announced via Twitter that her new studio album had been completed. After sharing a new promotional track “Jerk Ribs“, first taste of how will be her new sound, more classic R&B/Soul and moves away from the dance/electronic sound of her last album “Flesh Tone“, released in 2010. She has given more details of the album:

The new album is title “FOOD” and will be released on April 28, 2014. After signing a new worldwide deal with independent label Ninja Tune. It will be the first album that will not be released on a major label. She said:

“I’m really happy to be partnering with Ninja Tune on my new record. This is the album I’ve wanted to make for a long time and I want the team around me to be as excited and energetic about it as I am. I’m also very happy to be working with some of the most creative people in the industry”

The album is entirely produced by Dave Sitek from TV On The Radio and it’s a “soul record that’s as raw and alternative as it’s classic“. The lead single “Rumble” is scheduled for release in January 2014.
