MDNGHT – Into The Night
Can’t believe this is a live video! Great song, great performance!
Manchester-based quartet MDNGHT (they mean Midnight) create the form of disco-tinged home which almost each main label need to be very keen to snap up appropriate regarding today. Instead of take the funds plus run, but, MDNGHT reportedly turned down a myriad of deals they were available, selecting rather to signal with modern Manchester indie label MUK Records. Their initially launch, I Will Lead We On, appeared earlier this year, all delicate falsetto plus sophisticated, slow-burn apartment rhythms, recalling Jessie Ware’s Imagine It Was Us. The song crops up again at the finish of the band’s four-track debut EP, Into The Night, premiered here. Thankfully which song’s brilliance isn’t a 1 off, with all the gorgeous swell of the title track utilising the band’s penchant for dangerously catchy choruses. While alternative dance acts sound like they’re cramming inside jackhammer riffs plus air raid siren effects like they’re going from fashion, MDNGHT manage to create everything appear completely easy, unfurling melodies at will. This really is true of the understated Give The Love, that throws inside a smattering of funk guitar to guide details along a bit. They just come somewhat unstuck on Way Too Far, that virtually does go a bit too far vis-a-vis the song’s length. However, 3 amazing songs on a debut EP is nothing to be sniffed at.
